Most recent single “Wassup Bitch” reminds me a lot of an even mix of Childish Gambino and Drake. The track is super high energy and doesn’t seem too out of the ordinary at first.
The second half of the track is where the song really shines. We find Jae spitting relentless bars of social commentary before a spoken word bit at the end. When I say relentless, I mean it. You better be paying attention or the whirlwind of lyrics will blow right past you.
Pairing a chorus of repeating “Wassup bitch?” with so much actual truth and legitimate commentary on the U.S. is brilliant. Both aspects of the song are equally important and play off each other perfectly.
