When you think of the term “boy band” many groups come to mind. NKOTB, NSYNC, One Direction.
Vermont’s boys cruise are redefining the term and turning pop music on it’s head.
We got to know boys cruise earlier this year when they put out their single “Room For Reason”.
The trio are back with a full length LP. Merging their obvious punk rock influence with brighter pop tendencies, boys cruise are carving out a corner in the scene all for themselves.
At certain points jangly pop anthems and at other points using feedback as an instrument, this record is an experiment of how far the band can push the limits of genre.
There are many moments that make you tap your foot and start to dance. There are also an equal amount of moments that make you think you’re listening to lost tracks from Modest Mouse.
The album as a whole is the perfect soundtrack to a drunken night out downtown. It almost makes you nostalgic for moments that haven’t happened yet.
I could definitely see some of the stand out tracks like “NATE” getting licensed in commercials much the same way The Transplants were.
