Myles Bullen Outdoes Himself on New Album, Mourning Travels

Myles Bullen is back with his beautiful brand of poetry in motion.
His new album, Mourning Travels, was released on February 4th on one of the best indie labels around, Fake Four Inc.

When he showed me the album, he referred to it as “Healing Hurts part 2″. That turned out to be a really apt description as this is the perfect accompaniment to Healing Hurts. It’s also a testament to how much Bullen has grown in an extremely short amount of time.

Without a doubt, he has outdone himself in a big way. It was evident from the opening track. The vibe or feeling he’s able to conjure with the instrumentals he picks is truly chilling.

This is an album that you need to listen to with headphones. At least the first time you hear it. It’s so important to catch every single word.

“When the whole world burns, we’ll still be friends” is one of my favorite sentiments from this collection of songs.

He even explores more traditional flows and trap drums on this record which I think is awesome. He’s proving with every drop that he’s one of the most well rounded talents in the scene right now.

I couldn’t write about this record and not mention the perfectly placed features. Every single one compliments the track they inhabit.

There’s moments of joy and bliss, there’s moments of loss and sadness. Bullen has a gift for creating atmosphere and giving his audience the full scope of his emotional state or opinion.

As always, he discusses extremely important issues of the political and social nature. The tact and beauty with which he does this is unmatched.

Myles Bullen isn’t concerned with trends or waves. He makes the music he wants to make and uses his art to channel his emotions.
It’s complex, it’s beautiful and it will definitely make you feel something.
