Aeroviper Takes Us on a Journey Through the Cosmos with His New Album

We met Aeroviper at the end of 202o when he released his frantic single “Osaka Heat”. Being a relatively new artist, he’s already been able to garner some attention.

We didn’t hear any singles after “Osaka Heat” because he was quietly preparing his epic full length album.

That debut finally saw the light of day a few weeks ago. Out of the World is a strong statement piece that provides formidable competition to veterans within the Synthwave/Outrun sub-genre.

The record begins with spacewave-y synths opening up into a full on synthwave dance off.
I wasn’t expecting this to be so melodic considering my first impression was the much more aggressive “Osaka Heat”.

“Dark Cloud” is aptly named and a bit more industrial than the title track. The sharp synths make the song feel cold. This track has more of an 8-bit video game/arcade feel.

“Race to Nowhere” immediately hits you with the 80’s vibes. It’s synthwave, it’s bouncy, and it will MAKE you move.

“Slow Motion” sounds like it belongs in a film/TV soundtrack. The kicks are huge and swelling. This is the perfect supplement to an outer space voyage.

“Uncharted Aerospace” brightens things up again with a more dramatic flair. This track is clearly very influenced by New Wave and I think it’s an interesting direction for Aeroviper. Of anything from this album, this sounds the most like a pop song to me.

“Gravity” was the only song other than “Osaka Heat” I’d heard by Aero before listening to this album. At certain points it sounds like the synths are talking to you. There’s a really cool moment where the synths begin to sound a little like a guitar solo.

“Electronic Message System” has a drum n bass/breaks vibeto it. This is probably the most unexpected song on the record. It’s a really interesting switch up of style and shows that Aeroviper is still open to experimenting with new sounds.

“Star Struck” has a Hollywood/Miami Vice type attitude. Something about this synth run turns you into a badass just listening to it.

“Please Stand By” has a somber tone that prepares you for the upcoming finale. This track needs a remix with Robert Smith’s vocals immediately.

“Game Over” is the closer we deserve. It’s optimistic and bright and finds you leaving the album on a positive note. Congratulations, you survived your journey through outer space.
