Ticker Tape is Andrew Cunningham, Mike Salerno, Elliot Leach, and
Julian Maultsby.
Since forming in 2018, the Brooklyn based band has written two studio albums, Shift Breaks (2018) & Leap Year (2020), and has played multiple shows around the Tri-State area. Highlighted shows include opening for The Spill Canvas, Vinnie Caruana, and a sold-out record release at Muchmore’s in Brooklyn. The group draws influences from a wide array of musical stylings, which allows them bring a unique texture to these narrative-based, punk songs.
Leap Year is a desperately optimistic release that takes listeners on a month by-month journey through the calendar. Songs paint pictures that allude to corresponding seasons and moments through an entire year. It demonstrates that progress certainly isn’t linear, and that we’re constantly in a war with ourselves to be better. Our narrator wants nothing more than to make something of their life; to wake up proud of who they are. This year, there happens to be an extra day to make that possible.
The band’s second full length album is set to drop on April 24th, 2020.
“It’s heartbreaking when you can’t be there to help someone through hell, when they’ve always been there to get you through yours”, says Cunningham.
“We wanted to write a song that captures the feeling of sitting around the dinner table during the holidays and noticing a couple seats are empty that haven’t been before.”
Filmed/Directed by Anthony Pasini, the accompanying video weighs in on the concept of keeping/losing company. Memories of better times in familiar places flood leading actor Ian Hamilton’s mind, evoking the present emptiness of being alone.
