Not even half over and 2018 has already been a big year for Orlando rock band Hungover. They signed with Smartpunk Records and re-released their EP Wilt with new tracks.
Upbeat and fun without feeling sugary, this 8 song record will have you dancing and singing along by the end. If you’re a fan of pop punk in general, definitely give Hungover a listen.
Recently our very own Kaitlin Hohwiesner spoke with the band about influences, tour life, and what’s next:

KH: Musically, who are some of your biggest inspirations?

H: “We’re really into mid 2000’s Pop Punk/Pop Rock. Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, and Paramore just to name a few.”

KH: What is something that you enjoy doing outside of music, that contributes to your musicality? Possibly a hobby that you turn to, in order to rejuvenate your creativity?

H: “We’ve all got things we enjoy doing that give us sort of a mental break from music. Marc cuts hair, Austin is really into hockey, Evan likes to surf, Sean is an incredible cook, and Gabe loves video games.”

KH: Since being in a band, what is one of the most important/hardest things you’ve learned?

H: “The most important thing we’ve learned is that we have to stick together. Synergy is very important. Especially when we’re out on the road, we have to be each other’s support system. There are a lot of obstacles that come along with being a touring band and if we can’t rely on each other, things can prove to be very difficult.”

KH: You guys are just finishing up your first full US tour. What is one of your favorite things about touring and playing live?

H: “It’s all about the interaction. Our show isn’t a one sided affair. We want to get the crowd involved and really give them an experience. Whether it’s dancing a little during our set or having a full on conversation after we play, we want to build relationships through our music. Our band is your band.”

KH: What has been the toughest challenge you’ve been faced with? How did you overcome it?

H: “The toughest challenge overall has been handling our mental health on the road. There are members of our band that deal with anxiety and depression. Being away from home for long periods of time can really take a toll on you and amplify everything. We do our best to talk things out, be open, and lift each other up. It’s something we still try to overcome everyday, but being a tight knit family makes things easier.”

H: “I think it’s safe to say that along with plenty of of other musicians in our scene: “Dammit” by Blink 182.”

KH: For those who haven’t heard it yet, what can fans expect from the re-release of Wilt and the three new songs added?

H: “Lots of energy, big hooks, loud guitars, and songs that make you want to move!”

KH: What can we expect in the future from Hungover?

H: “Touring, touring, and more touring! Our goal this year to get our music in as many ears as possible and to establish relationships!”
