Hype Lights is a French alternative rock band.
The band released their debut album in 2016 and went on to play a first run of over 60 shows in support of the record.
Their newest single comes to us 5 years later.
“Something Wrong” was produced by Bert and Bastien of the legendary band Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!
The song is fast paced but not panic inducing. I can’t help but be reminded of Bush because of the feel of the song and the vocal performance.
Muse and Silverstein are two other possible influences that I personally noticed while listening to this track multiple times.
Like a traditional single, this does have a “B” track that’s titled “Fall Away”. This one has a bit more of a southern rock feel to it.
The band definitely have a stadium rock sound and could easily fit in on all kinds of tours. I’m excited to see what they have in store for the rest of 2021 and if they’ll make their way to the U.S.
Be on the lookout for Hype Lights’ EP, which drops on July 16th, 2021.
